Wipers are very helpful, if not critically important especially during weather disturbances. The only problem though is that usually the car owner will only know if its malfunctioning when it is time time to use it. AutoGlass Safety Council

So what can a car owner do when his wipers fail?

The website Art of Maniliness shared a comprehensive article detailing the many possible ways to troubleshoot wiper blades that do not work. The best way though to not suffer the consequences of a non-working wiper is to regularly replace it. Windshield Wiki

“Replace wiper blades regularly. Don’t wait until you find yourself in a downpour to realize it’s time to replace your wiper blades. They should be in top condition before you need them. The recommended wiper replacement schedule is once a year. Even if you don’t use your blades all that often, it’s still a good idea to replace them at this frequency. The hot sun beating down on an unused wiper blade can cause just as much damage as regular use in the rain.”

Troubleshooting Windshield Wiper Issues

Autos.com also shared various way to troubleshoot a non-working windshield wiper.

“Tighten the problem arm back in place or, if need be, remove the arm assembly to see if the arm itself is broken. If the arm is broken you will need to buy a new one and replace it. Pay particular attention to how the arm connects to the vehicle. Most likely your arm is just loose and can be re-tightened. Once the arm is tight, turn the wiper blades back on to see if you have alleviated the problem.”

Tips.net also shared its own version of windshield wiper troubleshooting solutions.

“The most frequent failure of windshield wipers is that they don’t move smoothly across your windshield and remove all the rain or snow there. If this is the case, then you will probably need to replace the wiper blades. These are inexpensive and can be purchased at any auto parts store. Check the guides inside the store, and they will let you know the proper blades to get for your car’s make, model, and year.”

The clutter should be in the boot. What’s going on back there –Many small children are poisoned accidentally by sampling substances like screen-wash or de-icer which are often left in the back of the car. You wouldn’t leave stuff like that rolling about on the kitchen floor, so the car is no different.”

The Benefits of a Clutter-free Car

Organized and Clean Car

Car interior

Regularly decluttering one’s car has a lot of advantages. (Photo Credits)

Organizing things inside one’s car has immense benefits. Apart from cleanliness, avoiding pest infestation and clarity of mind, a clutter free car brings about more advantages than the obvious.

The website Cars.com came up with tips on how to ensure that a car remains clutter-free. “Clean Out the Crap: Don’t be tempted to put a lot of crap in your car in the first place. It sounds so simple, and it is. Items that go into your car should be necessities. Ask yourself if your kid needs to bring his 1,000-piece puzzle, pull-toy and swim floatie with you on a trip to the grocery store. Implement the “one in, one out” rule. If your kids must bring a favorite toy in the car, limit them to oneitem each. If they bring one thing in the car, they must bring that one thing back out of the car at the end of the day. (If that one item happens to be a purse stuffed with 20 other small items? Good luck!) One parent of three on our staff recommends treating your car like a camping trip. If you pack it in, you must pack it back out and leave it better than when you arrived.”

Organizing the Car

Huffington Post for its part shared some ways to quickly organize one’s vehicle. Windshield Wiki

Ensuring the glove compartment remains tidy is one of their tips. “Transform Your Glove Compartment into a Mini Filing Cabinet. A thin coupon organizer (or recipe file) is an easy way to have fast access to your car’s most vital papers. Registration, insurance information, car repair and maintenance receipts can all have their own tabs, recommends Lorna Kyle Boot of the blog, That’s the Coolest Thing!, and most styles fit comfortably inside a glove compartment. You could also stow a few napkins there (read: 3-5, not the two dozen or so that often get crammed there ‘just in case’ after a drive-thru run) and a car charger for your cell phone.” Read more tips here.

The website Spring Cleaning 365 also came out with more tips and organizational tidbits for its readers who are aiming to have clutter-free vehicles. AutoGlass Safety Council

“To quickly and efficiently declutter your vehicle, grab a trash bag and a tote bag. Work your way front to back, opening up any compartments along the way, and put anything that’s trash in the trash bag and anything that needs to be taken inside in the tote bag. Everything must be taken out with the exception of a few items: (1) Vehicle registration; (2) Vehicle insurance information; and (3) Vehicle maintenance records (optional).” Read about the continuation here.

All about Cross Over SUVs

Versatility and Style

Crossover SUVs are steadily gaining popularity. (Photo Credits)

Crossover SUVs are becoming a huge trend in the auto industry these days. The style and convenience it brings encourages more and more families and individuals to purchase this type of Sport Utility Vehicle.

CarBuzz.com for instance shared that Crossover SUVs may soon take over Europe.  AutoGlass Safety Council

“Anyone who pays even a bit of attention to the US auto industry knows one thing: The rise of the crossover/SUV cannot be stopped. Americans have ditched small cars, hatchbacks and wagons for jacked-up car-based mall crawlers. But Europe isn’t America. They love hatches and wagons there. Surely CUVs and SUVs will never rule…right? Wrong. In an interview with Automotive News Europe, Nissan Europe’s head of sales, Guillaume Cartier, says that he sees crossovers and SUVs outselling hatchback, wagons and sedans before 2020.”

More SUV Crossovers Invading the Market

The website Cartoq.com meanwhile gave a closer look at existing and soon-to-be-launched crossovers in the market. Windshield Wiki

“The Datsun GO range currently has two models: the GO hatchback and the GO+ MPV. A new redi-GO hatchback will be added but on the other end of the spectrum, the GO+-based GO Cross will ensure the brand’s presence in the sub-compact SUV market. Engine options are yet to be finalised but the 1.2-liter petrol and the 1.5-liter diesel (from the Micra) are likely to be included. In terms of looks, if the concept is anything to go by, it will surely attract a lot of buyers.”

Bloomberg meanti9me published a review of an electric crossover SUV.

“Push on the gas pedal, and the car surges forward like a rocket in a silent movie—pure thrust, no rattle. Tesla has used much of the suspension, acceleration, and power technology from the excellent Model S, plus variable ratio technology that adjusts steering to your driving style and terrain. If you have driven the sedan, the crossover, while taller, feels very similar in its finesse. And yes, the $10,000 Ludicrous Mode power-up is totally worth it.  The engine-less ride is quiet, so quiet, in fact, that at 40 mph with the windows up, I could hear crickets and frogs one night driving near Big Sur. The panoramic windshield that extends from chest level over and behind my head held a panoply of stars. When you operate the Model X, you’re piloting a piece of technology rather than driving a car. Everything else feels analog.”
